We are postponing our annual Y5 Welcome Event, due to the red extreme heat warning, from Thursday 25th June at 5pm to Thursday 9th July at 5pm.
As a reminder, there will be a short presentation from the Principal, followed by an opportunity to ask questions in an informal setting with refreshments/guided tour of the school.
Due to the large number of families that attend this event we do need to limit attendance to 1 parent/1 child per family.
If you plan to attend on Thursday 9th July, please advise us of your attendance and if it will be 1 or 2 people (in total) attending via welcome@cowplainschool.co.uk or by telephone on 023 9261 2020.
Early finish due to red extreme heat warning (Weds and Thurs)
Yesterday afternoon the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued a very unusual red health warning for heat for the whole of Hampshire, starting at 1am on Wednesday 24th June and finishing at 11pm on Thursday 25th June.
In response to this, we are following local schools in finishing school at 12.20pm on both Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June, thus avoiding the heat build-up in the afternoon.
A letter to parents has been uploaded to ClassCharts.
The normal school day will resume on Friday 26th June, 8.30am to 3pm.
WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YOU TO THE COWPLAIN SCHOOL
We have always been a school that has challenged our students to achieve highly whilst developing them to be confident and respectful young people. At the heart of this is our fantastic curriculum, which promotes three central strands of understanding diversity, thinking hard and developing character, which are at the heart of everything we do. We challenge our students to work hard, enjoy learning and achieve highly, providing a wide range of opportunities for them to succeed, both within and outside the curriculum, whilst supporting them with a highly effective pastoral network.
Our last Ofsted inspection in March 2024 stated that "Pupils value the warm and welcoming atmosphere here. Pupils appreciate the support they get from staff, which helps them learn well. Staff show a genuine care for pupils, who feel safe and happy at this school.", something that we are incredibly proud of and which underlines that The Cowplain School is a happy and vibrant place to learn.
