GCSE Results 2024

Exam results in 2024 saw many Cowplain students performing extremely well, with a 2% improvement in those achieving Grade 4 in English and Maths to 57%, and a 4% increase in the 5+ figure to 34%. With grade boundaries now at pre-pandemic levels, the school’s results mirrored those achieved in 2019. We also saw a large rise in the number of students achieving the highest grades, with around 17 Grade 9s and 51 Grade 8s recorded across a range of subjects.

Amongst the subject highlights were the single sciences, with 100% of Biology, Chemistry and Physics students achieving at least a Grade 4, with around a third of them achieving the highest grades of 7-9.  Maths results once again exceeded the national average, with 67% achieving a Grade 4 or better, a rise of 5% from 2023. In French, 79% of students achieved a Grade 4, with 23% achieving grades 7-9, and in Business Studies and Geography around half of our students achieved Grade 5.

Other highlights include the performing arts, with Drama, Music and Dance achieving highly, as well as GCSE PE, in which 85% of students achieved at least a Grade 4.

Vocational subjects were also strong; for example, Hair and Beauty saw 85% of students achieve a Grade 4 and there were strong results in NCFE Engineering.
